DESCRIPTION: Prayer is the heart and center of the spiritual life, and any desire to know God, to be conformed to the Image of Christ, and to "acquire the Holy Spirit," must be rooted in prayer.This cassette contains 2 more beautiful Akathists (an Akathist is an extended hymn-prayer in 13 sections, with refrains), which deserve to be better known. On Side 1 is the Akathist for Holy Communion, which is a beautiful and inspiring meditation on the meaning of many biblical passages about Holy Communion, and is ideal to assist in one's faithful preparation to receive the Holy Mysteries. Not only does it instruct both the mind and heart about the meaning of Communion, but it helps to realize the purpose of receiving Communion, expressed in the refrain: "Jesus, God of my heart, come and unite me with Yourself forever." On Side 2 is the Akathist to Jesus Christ, which is a very popular and profound devotional hymn that expresses the soul’s love for Jesus, while also helping to build a deeper relationship with Him. Both of these prayer-hymns are eloquent spiritual guides that help to create the inner attitude that enables the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, transfiguring both us and the world. This cassette is packaged in the customary way - in a clear, hard-plastic box, with a beige "J" card, and notes on the inside flap. As with all these audio recordings of prayers, this cassette is ideal for commuters, the sight-impaired, sick, elderly, home-bound, and for anyone who wishes to bring more prayer into his or her life.
