3rd ed.; 44 pp.; 38 B & W photos; 5½ x 8½
ISBN 1881211-53-3      PRICE: $6.95

DESCRIPTION:

This is a vastly expanded third edition of our most popular book.

bulletWe have added 14 new saints' lives to the prior 22, for a total of 36 lives.
bulletWe have added 20 new icon photos to the prior 17, for a total of 37 photos, plus the cover photo of St. Elizabeth Romanova (=38).
bulletWe  have added 16 pages to the prior 28, for a total of 44 pages.

You will be pleasantly surprised how much is contained in these 44 pages. On most pages there is an icon of the saint, with the saint's life. Each life is long enough to give the reader some real substance on which to meditate, but is concise enough to easily absorb and remember.  The length of each life makes it ideal to read the life of one saint each day, which many people like to do. In addition to icons of the individual saints, there are also photos of the entire grouping of saints on the west wall and the three sanctuary walls, plus three very recent (February, 2000) new icons on wood with particles of relics of each of the three saints. The saints chosen are of diverse ethnic heritages. Whereas most are recently glorified, including 8 American saints, some are older, and include some much-beloved favorites. All the magnificent icons were written/painted by Fr. Theodore Jurewicz of Erie, PA, and are located at St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Redford (Detroit), Michigan.

All of this is available now for just $6.95.  The photo and print quality are much improved over the second edition. If you already have the previous edition (the one printed on ivory-colored paper with St. Xenia on the cover), you will not find it redundant to have the new, expanded edition. If you are discovering this book for the first time, you are in for a treat. See our website's section of photo-articles, Saints' Lives, for ten examples of what you will find in the book, plus additional color photos.

These saints' lives are written from a perspective that seeks to explain why saints are necessary; how they relate to our lives today; and how knowledge of their lives can help us in our own spiritual journeys.
