DESCRIPTION:

Now available in America, The Millennium Celebration is the 3-hour official videotaping of a spectacular historical event -- the 1,000-year anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' (Russia), celebrated at the Theophany Patriarchal Cathedral in Moscow on June 5, 1988.  Officiating are the bishops of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in Russia, assisted by many priests, deacons and sub-deacons, including American representatives; there are hundreds of foreign guests.  Well complementing the splendor of the architectural setting of the Theophany Cathedral is the beauty of the magnificent singing of the antiphonal choirs. 

This video is a masterfully crafted Russian 6-camera production, featuring exquisite camera-work, and is edited live.  Shown are the complete Divine Liturgy, starting with the Great Litany and ending with a 10-minute sermon during the Communion of the clergy.  Immediately following is a 45-minute Panikhida (memorial service) for the departed hierarchs and other clergy, monastics and all mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters of the Russian land.  This video enables the viewer to experience and participate in the excitement of this momentous event in the life of the Holy Orthodox Church.
