[#1 in A TREASURY OF ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN PRAYERS, Vol. 2, #A-7]
DESCRIPTION:

This audio cassette contains two Akathists to two very popular and beloved saints of recent centuries.  Each Akathist (an extended hymn-prayer in 13 sections) praises and rejoices in the saint's life-story, teaching us about them, so that we might become friends with them.  Both "wonder-working" saints continue to be actively involved in the daily lives of the faithful, helping them in their struggles, and effecting many "wonders" or "miracles."

On Side A is the Akathist to Blessed Mother St. Xenia of St. Petersburg, who wandered around St. Petersburg for 45 years as a homeless beggar, pretending to be a fool - for Christ's sake.  She is especially beloved by families, women, children and youths.  Although venerated since her lifetime, she was universally glorified only in 1988.

On Side B is the Akathist to Holy Father St. Seraphim of Sarov. Calling all who came to him, "my joy," St. Seraphim taught that the "acquisition of the Holy Spirit" is the goal of Christian life, and that the effort to be conformed to the Image of Christ must be rooted in prayer.  He was universally glorified in 1903.

This cassette is packaged in the customary way - in a clear, hard-plastic box, with a yellow "J" card with icons of St. Xenia and St. Seraphim on the cover, and notes on the inside flap.

As with all these audio recordings of prayers, this cassette is ideal for commuters, the sight-impaired, sick, elderly, home-bound, and for anyone who wishes to bring more prayer into his or her life.
